New Faces for New Phase at Rundle Mall
Martin Haese has decided to step aside as General Manager of the Rundle Mall Management Authority (RMMA) at the end of the year to focus on commercial interests including his retail advisory business.
The search for a new GM will coincide with the imminent appointment of new members of the RMMA Board to lead the Mall through its next exciting phase of redevelopment and activation.
Martin will continue to be heavily involved in the local retail sector and will be on hand as an advisor for the Rundle Mall Management Authority (RMMA) and City of Adelaide.
“It has been a great privilege to help put the foundations in place for an exciting new future for the precinct, particularly over the last 12 months with the endorsement of the Rundle Mall Masterplan and detailed designs,” Martin said.
“With work starting on the upgrade in the New Year, there is a renewed sense of confidence in the precinct and a new level of energy and direction sweeping through the Mall”.
“Now that everything is firmly in place, it’s an opportune time for me to step-aside and let someone else take the reins to lead Rundle Mall onto its next chapter”.
“I have been involved in the Mall for over 30 years and I look forward to continuing to work with the traders, the RMMA and Council in an advisory role in the future.”
Martin first started work in Rundle Mall in the 1980’s at David Jones. He then opened a retail business in the Mall in 1993 which expanded nationally before divesting. He joined the RMMA Board in 2008 and was then appointed General Manager at the end of 2009.
“Council is really appreciative of the hard-work, commitment and dedication that Martin has shown in leading Rundle Mall over the past three years,” Lord Mayor Stephen Yarwood said.
“He is a true gentleman and has led the Rundle Mall Management team with the highest level of professionalism. Martin is leaving behind big shoes to fill but I am confident the RMMA will find the right person to take Rundle Mall forward.”
Recently re-appointed Chair of the Rundle Mall Management Authority, Theo Maras said that Martin’s leadership and integrity has been invaluable to the Mall.
“Rundle Mall is the primary shopping precinct and meeting place in SA, with 24 million visitors annually,” Mr Maras said.
“Martin has done a tremendous job in navigating the Mall to where it stands today. It is literally on the verge of a brand new era and much of that is to do with Martin’s enthusiasm and perseverance.
“On behalf of the RMMA Board, it has been an honour to work with Martin over the last few years and we wish him all the best for his future endeavours. We look forward to the next stage and seeing the Redevelopment Project get underway early next year.”
The RMMA will begin the recruitment process for the new General Manager over the next month with the view to having a successful applicant in place by the end of the year.
