Have Your Say On The AFC’s Park Lands Proposal

Consultation is now open on both the Adelaide Football Club’s draft proposal for Denise Norton Park / Pardipardinyilla (Park 2) and the Aquatic and Recreational Facility - Draft Needs Analysis.

On Tuesday night, Councillors were presented with the latest draft proposal from the Adelaide Football Club (AFC) as it seeks to progress its unsolicited proposal (expression of interest) for Park 2.

This followed the recent decision of Council calling on the AFC to publicly release concepts for their proposed facility and for Administration to do the same with the independent draft Needs Analysis.

Councillors voted for an extensive 10-week consultation period on both matters to begin as soon as possible.

Lord Mayor Sandy Verschoor looked forward to the community having its say on the latest draft concepts from the AFC as well as the draft Needs Analysis.

“I am pleased to deliver on the promise that we would quickly go out to the community as soon as we received a concept from the AFC,” said the Lord Mayor.

“There has been a lot of speculation and misinformation about the AFC’s unsolicited proposal. Now that we have received a proposal, the community can be informed and provide essential feedback to Council.

“It’s also important to note that it is still very early days in this process and that Council is yet to form a position on the future of the Aquatic Centre – hearing from our ratepayers, centre users and the public is an important part of this.

“The community’s needs will always come first, so I strongly encourage people to have their say both on the AFC’s draft proposal and what they want to see in any future Aquatic Centre facility.”

It is important to note that AFC’s Draft Proposal has not yet been informed by the Needs Analysis and therefore the draft proposal provided by AFC is not a final concept.

It is expected that AFC will consider the findings of the Needs Analysis and all feedback received from the two consultations as it develops a detailed proposal, should the Unsolicited Proposal process continue.
