Get On Your Bike To Save!

The content of this media release is over six months old and may no longer be current.

For the next two weeks a range of eateries across the CBD and North Adelaide will serve up some special and delicious offers – but only for those on two wheels!

The concept, originally developed in Adelaide’s sister city, Austin, Texas, is a trade promotion run by City of Adelaide for City and North Adelaide businesses that also encourages people to get active.

Lord Mayor, Martin Haese, said the Bike2Eat initiative aims to encourage more people to cycle through the City and North Adelaide, while showcasing businesses that support cyclists at the same time.

“The initiative aims to support our great local eateries, as it brings in extra customers, but also encourages people to ride into and around the city for the obvious health benefits,” said Martin.

“This year we have increased the length of the promotion, shifted the timing of the event to a warmer part of the year and teamed up with Rewardle.”

Cyclists receive a discount (or value-add) when they ride their bike to participating restaurants and cafes in the City and North Adelaide. They are required to show their helmet and tell staff they wish to collect their Bike2Eat offer.

Teaming up with Rewardle will streamline the process with special Bike2Eat Rewardle cards made available at each participating eatery.

The card can be scanned to receive items like a free coffee or a discount off the bill. E for Ethel Café owner, Daniel Harland, is excited to be a part of the event again this year.

“It's an opportunity for people to cycle Adelaide in the beautiful spring weather and support a list of great local business,” said Daniel.
