Visitors to the city will be able to enjoy free car parking for up to an hour at four key locations over the Christmas-New Year period, courtesy of the City of Adelaide.

From tomorrow (Monday 11 December) until 7 January, motorists can take advantage of this special offer at the Council-owned UParks in Rundle Street, Frome Street, Gawler Place and Wyatt Street. *

Councillor Alex Antic, who put forward the idea, said his initiative was a response to comments that that the city was more difficult to access due to the number of transport and construction projects taking place right now.

“Offering up to an hour’s free parking to motorists at these four car parks is a simple way to send a message that our city is open for business and open for Christmas.”

Lord Mayor of Adelaide Martin Haese said Council was keen to encourage more people to visit and shop in the Rundle Mall and East End precincts throughout the festive season.

“This is another example of how we’re supporting our local businesses by making the City of Adelaide a more attractive pre-and-post Christmas shopping destination.”

The Lord Mayor said Adelaide Central Market also offered visitors their first hour of car parking free during market trading hours.
