Council Looks To Hit The Right Note

The content of this media release is over six months old and may no longer be current.

This coming Tuesday night, City of Adelaide Elected Members will note the recommendations of the review of Council’s Event Noise Mitigation Standard Operating Procedures.

The review is all about ensuring events thrive and flourish in the City of Adelaide while being mindful of surrounding stakeholders.

Members will be asked to approve the commencement of targeted consultation of the recommendations which will involve residents and businesses, event organisers as well as resident and precinct groups.

Feedback received as part of the consultation on the recommendations will be considered as part of the final recommendations of the event noise review – being brought to Council in November.

“We recognise that amplified sound contributes to a quality event experience for patrons but can affect those living or working in close proximity,” said the Lord Mayor.

“We want to be able to provide clear and consistent advice and guidelines to our customers, be responsive to noise sensitivities of our Park Lands and surrounds and continue to be a great city to host events.”

“I’m confident we can get the balance right by considering all viewpoints and determining new measures that continue to support activation in the city while being mindful of residents and other stakeholders.”

Other recommendations from the Committee meeting held last week also go to Council for final review and possible endorsement. These include noting the Adelaide Football Club’s unsolicited proposal for Park 2 and noting the annual update of the Adelaide Park Lands Events Management Plan.

Our Councillors continue to work hard to represent their constituents and the interests of all who visit the city and North Adelaide. To that end, three questions on notice and ten motions on notice have also been lodged by members ahead of Tuesday night’s meeting.

More information is available in the agenda here.

The Council meeting commences at 6:00 pm on Tuesday 10 September.
