Adelaide Zoo is Australia’s second oldest zoo and has built a reputation for creating environments for its 3,000 exotic and native residents which champion sustainability and conservation. Set in a lush, leafy oasis off Frome Road, the colours, sights and smells of the Zoo will set imaginations wild! From primates to the Pandas, the ‘Meet the Keeper’ daily program gives you a chance to ask keepers specific questions about your favourite animal and see them having a feed. Adelaide Botanic Gardens
North Terrace, Adelaide 5000
The Adelaide Botanic Gardens is a magical sensory experience for all ages! Spanning more than 50 hectares, the Gardens are brimming with a wide range of fascinating flora which attract a variety of creatures. There are free guided tours every morning at 10:30am or walking trails where you can go at your own pace.
Beyond the gardens, there’s the opportunity to immerse the whole family in the importance of plants to our lives at the Santos Museum of Economic Botany. A large majority of the pieces on display are over 130 years old! Be inspired in another-worldly way by the stunning architecture of spots like Palm House which was built in Germany in 1875 and thought to be the last of its kind in the world!

South Australian Museum

When it comes to family-friendly learning, look no further than the Museum of South Australia! Founded in 1856, this museum has been educating and inspiring Adelaideans for generations. A regular roster of fun events and exhibitions for kids will keep young imaginations ticking, and the largest collection of Aboriginal artefacts in the world is always worth investigating.
Play in the Parks
Adelaide is the only city in the world surrounded completely by parks! The Park Lands act as the city’s playground and has an endless supply of activities that will get the whole family enjoying the great outdoors. They’re also equipped with BBQ facilities and lush lawns that are picnic perfection.
Bonython Park’s play space will ignite a sense of adventure with its 25-metre flying fox, giant mouse wheel and merry-go-round.
The design of Bundey’s Paddock/Tidlangga was inspired by natural elements so is ideal for little humans to learn and explore their relationship with the environment. There are over 10 varieties of productive trees in a pocket orchard, feature climbing rocks, and a sand pit!
Bush Magic in Rymill Park/Murlawirrapurka is the ultimate interactive experience and even has its very own mini maze. It’s right next to the Adelaide Aquatic Centre so you can also wander over for a splash.
Paddle Boats on the Torrens

When the sun is shining, there’s no better way to enjoy Adelaide’s beautiful climate than a paddle on the Torrens on board the Popeye or jump in one of Captain Jolley’s Paddle Boats.
