Group Dining Guide

Looking for somewhere to get together with friends, family or workmates? We’ve scouted Instagram to see where Adelaideans are eating and drinking with their nearest and dearest to find you some great spots to make warm memories this winter!

289 Halifax Street, Adelaide

With a fun name like Ballaboosta you have to get the back-story! Yiddish for ‘good homemaker’ – this Lebanese-inspired cafe was named in honour of the owner’s mum, Betty, who personifies the term and they definitely serve up their food with love.

From the wood-oven baked pita and the baba ganoush to house-made sweets like baklava and shortbreads – Ballaboosta is sure to take you on a Middle Eastern journey you and your friends will be reminiscing about all year. Also worth noting is the plethora of vegetarian and vegan options available. From the salads and pizzas to the street mezze and soups, this is any vego's idea of feasting heaven!

No set menu but if you phone ahead they can tailor a set menu for your group. via Instagram

Jerusalem Sheshkebab House

131B Hindley Street, Adelaide

If you want somewhere that is all about amazing traditional food – then, our food-loving friend – this is your place. There is nothing fancy here except the food and if you opt for one of the banquet options – perfect for festive feasting – you are sure to get bang for your buck.

With generous servings and plates of delicious, freshly made morsels that seem to just keep coming, you and your friends will be eating like Middle Eastern royalty. No need for a gown here though – this is a no-fuss restaurant that will cater to a small group in booth seating or larger group tables.

Mexican Society

140 Gouger Street, Adelaide

Mexican Society is an award-winning restaurant and from the moment you walk in the door you get the feeling you and your amigos are in for something special. There’s a great use of playful colour in the restaurant, giving it a very modern Mexican vibe.

What better way to share food with friends than with a table full of tacos, enchiladas and Margarita’s? Mexican Society is all that and more – a sophisticated and artistic take on the classic Mexican. Some of the dishes landing on your table almost look too good to eat (like the Tostada De Salmon pictured)!

Banquets (min 2 people) $42 or $55 option

Star House Chinese Restaurant

31-39 Gouger Street, Adelaide

A favourite destination for Yum Cha lovers from all around Adelaide, Star House is a popular and bustling Chinese restaurant in the hub of the Chinatown district. Yum Cha involves small serves of steamed, pan-fried and deep fried dishes traditionally washed down with tea – in fact Yum Cha translates to ‘drink tea’.  It’s a great dining choice for groups small or large, with the option to try plenty of everything!

Inside information tells us that you should try the not-so-common dish the Golden Sand Bun – a fluffy, steamed bun filled with salted yolk. If that’s not your thing, there will be plenty of other delicious and traditional options on offer.

Banquets starting at $39 - minimum 6 people
