An East End Guide for Wine Lovers

If you have a nose for wine, chances are you have tucked into a glass or two of South Australia’s finest. Famous for bold Barossa Valley reds and crisp Adelaide Hills white varieties, the East End showcases the best local and global wines, in one convenient and vibrant location.

With over 20 years’ experience in the fine wine industry, East End Cellars is a highly renowned boutique wine store and tasting room. With a passion for supporting small wine producers from South Australia and across the world, they are also self-proclaimed foodies, showcasing some of the state’s best produce and imported fine foods in the form of tempting share plates and wholesome ploughman’s platters.

Just across the lane within a character-filled heritage building, Mothervine is an on-trend contemporary wine bar home to a hand-picked selection from Australia’s top vineyards. Paired with tapas-inspired bar bites, modern fare and charcuterie, it’s a perfect spot for wine connoisseurs and beginners alike, with their knowledgeable bartenders narrating the story behind their favourite drops.

Nestled downstairs off the bustling Rundle Street strip, lies Hellbound – a cellar-inspired underground wine bar, showcasing an impressive and diverse list of local winemakers and inspirations from around the world. Kick-started with the ‘Renew Adelaide’ initiative, founders Mark Reginato and Louis Schofield pay homage to Adelaide’s humble food and wine heritage, creating the concept of “a friend’s cellar that you can turn up to and enjoy a glass of wine and a bit of unpretentious fun”.

‘One Place to Visit’: Local Tip from Mark Reginato of Hellbound

“Apart from Hellbound of course - Hey Jupiter, for a glass of Beaujolais and Steak Tartare. Off the main strip, enjoyable atmosphere, great food and wine.”
