Childers Street - Lighting Upgrade
Project status
Works are expected to commence in mid-October.
Why are we doing this?
We’re upgrading the street lighting infrastructure along Childers Street, between Hill Street and Jeffcott Street.
The existing lighting assets are reaching the end of their service life.
This renewal will:
- Improve visibility and lighting levels for a safer and more accessible environment
- Upgrade infrastructure that meets standards for long-term maintenance and management
- Lower emissions and operating costs with energy-efficient LEDs
- Support future smart lighting technology
What are we doing?
This upgrade includes installing new lighting poles, energy-efficient LED luminaires, cabling, and associated electrical infrastructure.
When are we doing it?
Works are scheduled to start mid-October till mid-December 2025, weather permitting.
How will it affect the community?
Disruption will be kept to a minimum. Temporary access changes and noise may occur during works. Residents and businesses will be notified ahead of time. There will be no long-term impact on parking or access once work is complete.
