North Adelaide Library

North Adelaide Library is co-located with the North Adelaide Community Centre with library services on the ground floor. There are a variety of spaces and services including a Reading Room, the History Hub and a children’s area. Meeting rooms, which are located on the second floor, can only be accessed by two flights of stairs.

Location

176 Tynte Street, North Adelaide. The main entrance on Tynte Street has steps and a handrail. There is also a side entrance on the western side of the building via a laneway with ramp access. Simply use the call button to alert staff to open the door.

Thursday: 10:00 am to 8:00 pm

Friday: 10:00 am to 6:00 pm

Saturday: 11:00 am to 2:00 pm

Sunday: Closed

Facilities and programs

The majority of programs at North Adelaide Library are delivered by the North Adelaide Community Centre. You can access specialist local history resources at regular History Hub sessions, or discover other events and activities.

Justice of the Peace Service

A free JP service is available at the North Adelaide Library.

This is a drop-in service run by City of Adelaide volunteers. You do not need a booking.

Getting here

The most convenient form of public transport to the North Adelaide library is the bus. The closest stops are Stop 5 on Jeffcott Street (on Wellington Square) and Stop 4 O'Connell Street (at the North Adelaide Village). For all routes and timetables, see the Adelaide Metro website.

If you are already within the city or North Adelaide, the Adelaide Free connector bus is a great option. The large loop (98a and 98c) connects North Adelaide and the City, while the small loop (99a and 99c) connects the inner city areas that are not serviced by the tram.

Vehicles

Taxis and Uber can drop at the library door. While there is no taxi rank near the library, staff are happy to assist you in calling for a taxi if required.

The North Adelaide Village Carpark offers two hours of free parking for shoppers and contains some disability parking spaces. Enter via Archer Street or Tynte Street.

Paid parking is available off Archer Street, towards Lefevre Terrace but please read the signage before leaving your vehicle.
