Helping emerging artists while creating a rich and diverse city.

As Australia’s only UNSECO City of Music, the City of Adelaide is proud to support emerging artists and musicians with a range of initiatives.

Support ranges from the practical, such as creating easy-access loading zones at venues across town, and providing opportunities to artists to be heard, to the financial, in the form of funding and grants.

Free rehearsal space

The beautiful Meeting Hall at the iconic Adelaide Town Hall is available for emerging bands to hold free rehearsals between 9am - 8:30pm on weekdays (Monday-Thursday), subject to availability.

Live music promotion

If you’re looking for a place to promote your live music gig, we encourage you to list it free with the Australian Tourism Data Warehouse (ATDW).

The ATDW will then disburse the information to a variety of websites including the City of Adelaide’s What's On calendar, which receives an average of over 20,000 monthly page views and the weekly e-newsletter has over 12,000 subscribers. It's a popular go-to for many event seekers.

To list, (did we mention it’s free!), simply register with ATDW (as an Event) and then create listings for your gigs/public performances.

Loading Zones for musicians

To provide musicians with better access to live music venues across the city the Council has created City of Music Loading Zones near a number of venues across the city centre and North Adelaide.

You can find full details on the Music Loading Zones page.

Funding

The City of Adelaide provides funding of up to $8,000 per year in grants for eligible initiatives that support live music in the city.

These include areas such as:

• Live Music Enterprise

•  Community Programs and Events

• Cultural Promotion

• Quick Response Grants

Some grants are only open for applications at certain times of the year and eligibility criteria applies. Find out more on the Arts and Cultural grants page.
