Live Music in Adelaide

Adelaide has always been known for its music. It is proudly the birthplace of some of Australia’s best known musical acts and performers – The Twilights, Cold Chisel, James Morrison, No Fixed Address, Hilltop Hoods, Greta Bradman, Sia Furler - we could go on. It has a buzzing live music scene, hosts multiple world class music festivals, and provides opportunity for music education through a host of leading music institutions.

It’s no wonder then, that on 15 December 2015, Adelaide was designated as Australia’s only UNESCO City of Music. The designation is an acknowledgement of the breadth, depth and vibrancy of the city’s music culture, its international reach, its history and its aspirations.

Not content to stop there, The City of Adelaide has developed a Live Music Action Plan, to cement Adelaide’s place as a world leading music city.

It also offers a range of programs and initiatives, and funding to support local musicians and artists, as well as encouraging live music venues throughout the city centre and North Adelaide.
