Bathukamma Festival (Festival of Flowers)

Sunday 21 September 2025
Drill Hall, Torrens Parade Grounds

Join the Telugu Association of South Australia at Torrens Parade Grounds for an unforgettable day of free music performances, dance, and tradition as we celebrate Bathukamma (Festival of Flowers), a vibrant festival honouring femininity, nature, and the spirit of community.

Bathukamma means “Mother Goddess, come alive.” In this festival women and girls create a beautiful flower stack using seasonal, medicinal flowers arranged in seven concentric layers, forming a temple-like shape ‘gopuram’. Dressed in traditional attire, women gather in circles around the Bathukamma, singing folk songs and dancing in harmony. This joyful celebration promotes sisterhood, love, and community bonding.
