June | UNESCO City of Music - 10-year anniversary
Make Music Day
Join the worldwide celebration of music at Make Music Day; one MASSIVE day of music that showcases the best of our diverse music community.
Over 220 performers will play in more than 40 venues across the City and North Adelaide from 9am to midnight on Make Music Day, a global event which has its origins in France as ‘Fête de la Musique’. This free festival will be a joyful expression of Adelaide’s grassroots music culture and music making with a range of accessible and all ages events on offer.
City visitors can experience solo artists, bands, choirs and community groups popping up in unexpected places and catch interesting combos at established and much-loved live music venues. Discovery, delight and dancing are on the cards for Make Music Day, which coincides with the winter solstice, the shortest night of the year.
Co-designed with our local music community and Alliance Française, Make Music Day celebrates the colour, life and character that makes the city unique, as Adelaide celebrates its 10th anniversary as a UNESCO City of Music. It is a key initiative of the City of Adelaide’s Live and Local program, delivered in partnership with the national Live Music Office and APRA AMCOS.
It’s a citywide celebration and everyone’s invited!

ASO Jam Sessions
Ever wanted to make music but didn’t know where to start? The Adelaide Symphony Orchestra is generously hosting free ASO Jam Sessions at our North Adelaide Community Centre. At these welcoming drop-in workshops, open to all, creativity takes the lead. No experience? No problem!
Led by workshop facilitators Dr. Julian Ferraretto and Dave McEvoy, ASO musicians and community members of all skill levels will come together to create music in the moment—shaped by your ideas, stories, and spontaneity. In each workshop, jam together and improvise original music with facilitators and ASO musicians guiding the way.
