Adelaide Smart City

Adelaide’s status as an innovative city has been reinforced following the opening of the Smart City Studio on 26 November 2015. 

The studio is the most recent development following tech giant Cisco declaring Adelaide as the first smart and connected Lighthouse City in Australia, earlier this year.

Adelaide now sits alongside other major cities including Barcelona, Chicago, Hamburg and Dubai as leading places to showcase the internet of things (IoT) innovations.

The Adelaide Smart City Studio, located on Pirie Street, is a space that will allow innovators to showcase creativity including the development, testing and hopefully commercialisation of the next generation of applications and services.

This is an exciting time for the entrepreneurship community in Adelaide.  An unprecedented number of entrepreneurs are committed to starting and growing innovative businesses.

Adelaide Entrepreneruial Ecosystem Map

On the 20th October 2015, Adelaide cemented itself as one of the best places in Australia to grow technology companies.

Judged against global benchmarks of best practice in innovation ecosystems, Adelaide was awarded the inaugural Innovative Regions Award in the Australian Technologies Competition, a new addition to the five year old competition.

The city-wide entrepreneurial ecosystem now features a huge support network of 116 innovation programs, including 18 co-working spaces and 13 incubators.
