About the Adelaide Circuit Redevelopment
In February 2026, the South Australian Government announced that the MotoGP Grand Prix of Australia will relocate from Victoria to a purpose-built street circuit in Adelaide from 2027.
The proposed 4.13 kilometre Adelaide street circuit has 15 corners and incorporates parts of Adelaide's historic Grand Prix circuit. The proposed redevelopment includes changes to the circuit and surrounding Adelaide Park Lands, including infrastructure, roads and transport, trees and vegetation, and community spaces.
The State Government has published detailed information, maps, designs and fact sheets about the proposed redevelopment.
For further information about the circuit redevelopment, visit the South Australian Motor Sport Board or visit the Department of Infrastructure and Transport's Adelaide Circuit Redevelopment Project page.
What is the City of Adelaide's role?
The City of Adelaide is not responsible for and does not manage the Adelaide Circuit Redevelopment Project.
Our role is to understand what the proposal could mean for our city and community, hear from our community and provide feedback to the State Government.
We are:
- reviewing the information released by the State Government
- seeking further information and briefings from SAMSB and DIT
- considering the potential impacts on our city and Park Lands
- asking our community what matters to them.
What we learn through our analysis and what we hear from our community will help Council consider the proposal and make informed representations to the State Government.
Who is responsible for the project?
The South Australian Motor Sport Board (SAMSB) is responsible for designing the redeveloped circuit and managing the motorsport events.
The Department for Infrastructure and Transport (DIT) is responsible for delivering the circuit and associated infrastructure works on behalf of SAMSB.
