Houssam Abiad

Central Ward Councillor

Cllr abiad blue gown

I am a South Australian entrepreneur, a Central Ward Councillor for the past eight years and was previously the Deputy Lord Mayor of the City of Adelaide. I own residential and commercial properties in the city and have previously owned marketing, telecommunications and hospitality businesses in the city.

Though born in Adelaide, I spent most of my life in Lebanon, returning to Australia at age 19 with my family after living through a civil war. I am so appreciative of the opportunities Adelaide has given me and I love this city with all my heart.

I enjoy giving back to my community and am currently the Chair of the Council for Australia-Arab Relations and the Australia Day Council of SA. Currently I represent the City of Adelaide on the Capital City Committee. I have also been appointed to the Board of the Adelaide Central Market Authority.

I was elected to the City of Adelaide in 2010 and I strive to offer the Adelaide business community and residents fresh, innovative and “big picture” solutions. I thrive on the notion of ensuring Adelaide remains – and grows – as a viable option for residents, businesses and visitors alike.

I believe community success delivers business success.
