Alexander Hyde

South Ward Councillor

Councillor Alexander Hyde

Having lived, worked and studied in our city throughout my adult life, it was an immense privilege to be elected as the youngest Councillor in the history of the City of Adelaide.

I have always sought to serve the community in a way where can give back the most. As a city south local and passionate South Australian, this role is no different.

For the last six years I have worked for the Federal Government; primarily where the community and public policy intersect. Much of this work has focused on solving problems and on how best to make practical contributions for the greater social good.

Raised in a small business family I have a keen appreciation of our role in supporting business as the capital city council. As a resident I know we must balance this duty with the preservation of our city’s character and comfort. I wish to see an effective council that places people ahead of the process, delivering world-class services to our residential and commercial ratepayers while keeping their costs down.

Sustainable growth, Park Lands and built heritage preservation, community safety, economic development and cultural enrichment are the main pillars on which I make decisions for our city.

Always a fierce advocate, I work to ensure the city’s south receives the attention it deserves from the council while seeking to strengthen Adelaide and North Adelaide’s reputation as the best place in South Australia to live, work and run a business.
