Calling all musicians and street performers!

The City of Adelaide will once again bring music and vibrancy to the streets of the city and North Adelaide during this year’s Christmas Festival.

Through our Christmas Incentive Scheme City of Adelaide will curate live music and performance across the city.  Over the previous three years our Christmas Incentive Scheme has successfully supported 128 live music groups

Live Music and Street Performances

The City of Adelaide seeks funding opportunities for high quality musicians and artists to invigorate the city streets during the Christmas Festival 2023 with festive and uplifting performances.

Individual applications up to $1,000 will be accepted for a single musician/band (can be more than one performance and more than one location).

Applications up to $3,000 will be accepted to deliver a series of performances.

Frequently Asked Questions

The Christmas Incentive Scheme is a funding opportunity available to:

  • Not-for-profit organisations and groups including: Incorporated associations and companies limited by guarantee, precinct groups; Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Corporations (under the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Act 2006); Adelaide cultural organisations.
  • Unincorporated groups. These must be Auspiced by an incorporated association that will take legal and financial responsibility for the administration of funds.
  • Individual, sole traders and commercial organisations/businesses.

Notification of results will occur from 4 October 2023.

No, we don’t. Only projects within Adelaide (5000) and North Adelaide (5006) are eligible to receive funding for this grant.

For live music / performances only: City of Adelaide will issue a special permit for live music / performances which may not incur a fee, subject to final approval from the Events Department. A busking permit is not required.

For events / markets only: For Christmas activities taking place in the public realm (squares, roads, parks) we will work with you to issue a permit for your activity. Please take note of any additional fees and charges for City of Adelaide services that your activity may induce.

For activities on private property: you will be required to upload written evidence of approval from business / property owner as part of your application.

If applicants have received other types of funding from City of Adelaide for the same project / activity they are not eligible to apply for this funding.

Yes - there may be fees associated required to be paid for your project. You can include these fees in your grant application. Please take note of any additional fees and charges for City of Adelaide services that your activity may induce.

No - any Council fees for activities must still be applied and paid for. You can include these fees in your grant application.

All successful applicants will be required to complete an acquittal report on the project no later than six weeks after the activation date. We will provide you with an acquittal reporting template once you sign your funding agreement and this is what you need to complete and return to us to let us know how your improvement project went and what the funding was spent on.

Applicants who do not complete and return an acquittal report will be ineligible for any future applications and funding.

Yes - we require you to provide the receipts and/or invoices for purchases or payments.

If successful, applicants will work with us to develop a funding agreement as soon as possible, with funding available upon a co-signed agreement.
