Fair Trade

Fair Trade is a global movement that aims to educate and empower us to use our consumer choices to benefit poorer communities around the world. Fair Trade addresses the injustices of international trade, which traditionally discriminates against workers and producers in developing countries. By requiring companies to pay sustainable prices to their workers and producers, these poorer communities are empowered and able to improve their situation.

Where can you buy Fair Trade products in Adelaide?

There are 60 businesses in the City and North Adelaide who sell Fair Trade products. Download the Adelaide Fair Trade Retailers map for all the locations.

How is City of Adelaide involved?

City of Adelaide works with local businesses and the community to spread the word about Fair Trade and its benefits to our global community. City of Adelaide is leading the way as South Australia's only recognised Fair Trade Council. For more information visit the Fair Trade Association website.

Fair Trade can help improve many lives both in Adelaide and abroad. Watch our video featuring past Lord Mayor Stephen Yarwood (2010 - 2014) speaking with some of Adelaide’s business owners on the importance of Fair Trade.
