London, New York, Rome, Chicago, Jerusalem, Barcelona, Tel Aviv, Dublin, Galway, Slovenia, Helsinki, Melbourne and now Adelaide!
This year, as part of the About Time: South Australia’s History Festival which runs from 1-31 May, Adelaide will also host the inaugural Open House Adelaide on 19 and 20 May. Open House Adelaide joins the successful international Open House program, which provides a weekend in which significant buildings - heritage, working and cutting-edge design - are open to the public.
This new component of the About Time: South Australia’s History Festival will build on the previous ‘Open Doors: Unlocking History’ section of the program, which has since 2006 encouraged event organisers to open heritage-listed buildings. The inclusion of contemporary architecture, sustainable design and engineering, as well as heritage in the Open House Adelaide event, will allow it to contribute to public understanding and discussion of the built fabric of Adelaide, past, present and future.
Meanwhile, hundreds of events across the state – events that showcase the diversity of our history and the passion of those who collect, curate and present it, have been registered for the About Time: South Australia’s History Festival.
This year About Time will run for the whole month of May.
