Take a closer look at Adelaide's fashion scene at the Gilles Street Market, which runs on the third Sunday of every month at Gilles Street Primary School.
Stalls feature local designers as well as vintage garments, clearance stock, second-hand items, jewellery, shoes, designer gear and accessories.
Jennifer Centenera, coordinator of the Gilles Street Market, came up with the concept after seeing grassroots markets when she spent several years living and working outside of Adelaide. On her return, she put the word out to local designers, the response was positive and the market grew from there. Opening in March 2008 with 48 stalls, it is now a fixture on the city's fashion calendar.
