Vocational Training

Adelaide has an extensive vocational training system with a wide range of specialised tertiary learning institutions. The largest of these is Adelaide TAFE, located in the CBD, with well over 20,000 students and a myriad of courses.

WEA - Worker’s Educational Association of SA Inc

WEA has been providing adult community education  - including lectures, courses and educational tours – to South Australians since 1913. Courses include computing, investment, languages, ESL, arts & crafts and hundreds of other leisure courses all at moderate prices.

The WEA publishes five Course Guides each year in late January, early April, late June, mid September and late November.

VET and RTO

There are also a wide range of alternative Vocational Education Training (VET) providers and Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) in the City.

VET organisations provide vocationally orientated education pathways which focus on skills relevant to the workforce.

RTOs are required to be accredited by the State Government Department of Further Education Employment Science and Technology (DFEEST). RTOs can be accredited as:

• A Vocational Education Training RTO; or
• A higher education RTO
  

Vocational and Higher Education institutions are governed by the Australian Qualifications Framework. Government standards ensure that all training organisations offer high quality programs that are nationally recognised through the accreditation process.
